Crow Creek Sioux Tribe telecom firm offers settlement to Sprint
The Crow Creek Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is offering to settle a dispute with telecommunications giant Sprint.

The tribe operates Native American Telecom on the reservation. The firm has been using the Sprint network to arrange conference calls in a practice that is sometimes called "traffic pumping."

"What NAT is doing is obviously legal and something they think is a good business model," attorney Scott Swier told The Sioux Falls Argus Leader.

NAT says it will charge a lower rate to Sprint to settle a dispute over the practice but Sprint says the firm is abusing the system.

The Federal Communications Commission says traffic pumping is legal.
