Republicans in South Dakota say Democrats are offering food for votes in Indian Country.

Democrats hosted three meals on the Pine Ridge Reservation, the Lower Brule Sioux Reservation and the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation. The events were tied to early voting in the state.

"There is nothing illegal about providing food at campaign rallies," attorney Jim Leach told The Sioux Falls Argus Leader. "The South Dakota Democratic Party has acted absolutely and completely legally."

State Attorney General Marty Jackley and U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson reminded both parties not to offer food for votes but they did not say whether the Democratic events violated the law.
