Native man urged to file formal complaint about officer incident
The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs is urging a Native man to file a formal complaint with the Winnipeg police after he said officers abandoned him on the outskirts of town.

Evan Maud, 20, has said he is afraid to talk to police. But AMC Chief Chief Ron Evans said Maud needs to come forward.

Despite the lack of a complaint, Police Chief Keith McCaskill has launched an investigation into the incident. "We have to get to the bottom of this and find out the truth," he said at a press conference, The Winnipeg Free Press reported.

Maud says two officers in an unmarked vehicle took him to the outskirts of town last Friday morning. He says they took his jacket, gave him a sweater and left him there.
