Arizona tribes lose appeal to block shooting range on sacred land

The Fort Mojave Indian Tribe and the Hualapai Tribal Nation have lost their bid to stop a shooting range on sacred land in Arizona.

The Bureau of Land Management plans to transfer 787 acres to the Arizona Department of Game and Fish. The Office of Hearings and Appeals at the Interior Department said the transfer can go forward.

"BLM has gone out of its way to alleviate the concerns the tribes have and we would hope that after 13 years, this is finally going to happen," Larry Adams of the shooting range board of directors told The Mohave Daily News.
