Woman hit with second-degree murder charge on Navajo Nation

A woman who is facing a second-degree murder charge told Navajo Nation police that the victim "should know better than to mess with a Hopi," The Farmington Daily Times reports.

Pamela Navasie, 41, is accused of stabbing her boyfriend's mother in the neck with a kitchen knife. Lena Hayes, 65, died on Tuesday at her home in Shiprock, New Mexico.

"Pamela stated that she had stabbed Lena in the neck with a knife because that was the only way to make her stop talking," an FBI agent said in a report, the paper said.

Navasie said she is Hopi and Navajo. Hayes was Navajo.
