Coeur d'Alene Tribe discovers remains in burned boarding school

The Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho discovered human remains at the site of a former boarding school that was destroyed in a fire last week.

Tribal police were sifting through the debris at the old Sisters of Charity of Providence school when they found the body. “Hopefully we can determine who this person was for the sake of this individual’s family," police chief Keith Hutcheson said in a press release, The Spokesman Review reported.

The school was on the National Register of Historic Places. It closed in 1974.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
