Squamish First Nation asks members to approve housing project

The Squamish First Nation of British Columbia is asking its members to approve plans for a housing development.

The tribe plans to build two high-rise apartments in Vancouver. Details are still being worked out.

“Nobody is lining up to house our people,” Chief Gibby Jacob told The Province. "We have 2,000 members on a waiting list."

The project would be located on land that the tribe recently reacquired in a court case.
