Bomb threat forces evacuation of Amtrak on Blackfeet Nation

The Blackfeet Nation of Montana provided hospitality to passengers who were forced to evacuate an Amtrak train due to a bomb threat.

Passengers were taken to the Browning Middle School on Monday evening after the train was stopped on the reservation. The evacuation was treacherous for some -- winds were as high as 90mph -- but they found respite at the school.

"Big thank you to the people of Browning and the Blackfoot Tribe," one passenger said on KRTV.com. "They worked tirelessly through the night to make sure us passengers were all very comfortable. They brought in pizza, cake, snacks, soda, etc. etc. Blew up matresses and brought sleeping bags in for us. They made a what could have been a horrible experience, extremely wonderful."

A search of the train and of passengers' baggage failed to turn up signs of a bomb. A 24-year-old is being detained on criminal charges.
