Lawyer intoxicated in court sent to Southern Ute rehab center
An attorney who showed up intoxicated to a court hearing has been released from jail in New Mexico in order to enter rehabilitation at a facility operated by the Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado.
Cindy Turcotte, 53, was sentenced to seven days in jail on a contempt charge for the incident. She was released after five days and will participate in a substance abuse program at Peaceful Spirits, which is operated by a non-profit arm of the tribe.
The court's order describes Peaceful Spirits as an Indian Health Service treatment facility.
