Blackfeet veterans serve as honor guard for last WWI veteran

Five members of the Blackfeet Nation of Montana served as the honor guard for the funeral of Frank Woodruff Buckles, who was the last surviving veteran of World War I.

The Blackfeet Warrior Society met on the steps of the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday to honor Buckles, who died February 27 at the age of 110. The society then participated in Buckles' burial on Tuesday at Arlington National Cemetery.

Bruce Running Crane, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and other Blackfeet veterans met Buckles in 2010.
