Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe closes a part of lake to visitors

The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe of Nevada has closed access to a part of Pyramid Lake.

The tribe is closing the area due to vandalism at a sacred site. "The Tribe needs time clean up damage and to come up with a plan for this area that will allow for responsible use of the area for both Tribal Members and visitors to Pyramid Lake," Chairman Wayne Burke told KTVN-TV.

Other parts of the lake are still open to visitors who obtain a tribal permit.
