IHS settles lawsuit over death of Rosebud Sioux baby boy

The Indian Health Service has agreed to pay $230,000 to settle a lawsuit over the death of a six-week-old boy from the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota.

Eric Keefe underwent a circumcision at the Rosebud Indian Health Service Hospital in June 2008. He died after suffering massive blood loss.

The IHS did not admit wrongdoing but agreed to settle the lawsuit filed by Forrest and Mary Keefe, Eric's parents.
