DOI to announce consultation process on land consolidation
The Interior Department will be announcing the consultation process for the land consolidation portion of the Indian trust fund settlement.
Judge Thomas F. Hogan gave approval for the government to communicate with Indian beneficiaries. A notice will be published soon in the Federal Register to announce the consultation sessions.
The settlement includes $1.5 billion to buy fractionated interests from willing Indian beneficiaries. The land will be transferred to tribal governments.
