Lumbee Tribe holds inauguration ceremony for interim chair

The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina will hold an inauguration ceremony for Sharon Hunt, the interim chair.

Hunt took over after the resignation of Purnell Swett on May 23. She is the first woman to serve as chair of the tribe.

Hunt will remain chair until the tribe holds a special election. The next chairman will serve the remainder of Swett's term.

A date for the special election hasn't been reported.
