Column: Standing Rock Sioux Tribe grows wireless service

"Intrado (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of 911 technology solutions, has partnered with Standing Rock Telecommunications, Inc. (SRTI), a tribally-owned wireless carrier serving people throughout the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in North Dakota and South Dakota.

This deployment is noted to be Intrado’s first with a tribally-owned wireless carrier.

Through this agreement, Intrado has agreed to provide Wireless Phase I and Phase II services to SRTI. Through its hosted suite of wireless E911 emergency communications products, Intrado will provide wireless solutions and services that enable Standing Rock Telecommunications to offer its subscribers improved 911 services that feature increased accuracy in locating callers.

“Standing Rock Telecom is proud to offer premium cellular and broadband services to the Standing Rock area. Our subscribers are important to us and enhanced 9-1-1 will be a standard feature in all of our wireless services,” Miles McAllister, general manager for SRTI, said in a press release."
