Terry Cross, Indian child welfare advocate, to receive honor

Terry L. Cross, the executive director of the National Indian Child Welfare Association, will receive the Embracing the Legacy Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps.

Cross is a member of the Seneca Nation. He founded NICWA to advocate for the needs of Indian children.

"It has only been in the last 40 years that American Indian people and governments have had the capacity to provide their own services," Cross told The Oregonian.

Cross will be presented the award at a ceremony in Boston, Massachusetts, tomorrow.
