City won't oppose Citizen Potawatomi Nation land-into-trust bid

The city council in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, said it won't oppose a Citizen Potawatomi Nation land-into-trust application.

The tribe wants several properties placed in trust. City officials are worried about the loss of property taxes but they said they wanted to maintain a good relationship with the tribe.

"We look on the Citizen Potawatomi Nation as friends. We are working on things together," Mayor Eddy Parker said at a city council meeting, The Tecumseh Countywide News reported.
