Blog: Hereditary chief of Snoqualmie Tribe apologizes for pot joke

"I, Chief Jerry J. Kanim Enick, Hereditary Head Chief of the Snoqualmie Indians, am extremely apologetic to all Native Americans everywhere, and to the public at large for the behavior of this current sitting Snoqualmie Tribal Council, and for how the ‘lawful instruments’ of a Constitutional Nation such as Resolutions, are being used as a joke, OR NOT.

This was done without my knowledge and is completely unacceptable behavior for officials of our tribe. The 4 council people who vote for and passed this resolution, and the officers that signed it are in no way representing the voice or the standards of the Snoqualmie People.

I would also like to apologize to ‘Raging River’ our substance rehabilitation program, ‘The Snoqualmie Canoe Family’, the CEO of our Casino Mr. Jon Jenkins, and all casino & tribal employees, including Mr. Willie Nelson and his cast and crew for the flagrant irresponsibility and incompetence of the sitting Snoqualmie Tribal Council, the Tribal Administrator and the Tribe’s Legal.

This goes against all native values and morals and has brought great shame and embarrassment upon our people, our leadership and our great nation. "
