House Natural Resources Committee approves three Indian bills

By unanimous consent, the House Natural Resources Committee approved 11 bills at a markup today.

Three Indian bills were among those approved. They are:
H.R.1158, the Montana Mineral Conveyance Act. The bill settles a dispute over coal subsurface rights for the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. The committee held a hearing on the bill on June 23.
H.R.1421. The bill authorizes the Cherokee Nation to construct hydroelectric generating facilities at the W.D. Mayo Lock and Dam on the Arkansas River in Oklahoma. The committee held a hearing on the bill on July 12.
H.R. 1560. The bill allows the Tigua Tribe of Texas to set its own membership standards. The committee held a hearing on the bill on June 23.

The bills will go the House floor for a vote.
