House subcommittee holds hearing on Quileute Tribe land bill

The House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands held a hearing this morning on H.R.1162, a bill that allows the Quileute Tribe of Washington to move out of a tsunami zone.

The bill transfers 785 acres within Olympic National Park to the tribe. The land will allow the tribe to escape the threat of tsunamis and flooding.

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee approved S.636, its version of the bill, in July.
