Mi'gmaq men from Canada to be extradited in 1988 murder case

Two Mi'gmaq men from the Listuguj First Nation in Quebec face extradition to the U.S. to face murder charges.

Matthew Barnaby and David Caplin grew up on the Restigouche Reserve. But Barnaby was living in Nashua, New Hampshire, at the time of the murders of two women in 1988.

Barnaby lived below Charlene Ranstrom, 48, and Brenda Warner, 32. Caplin was visiting from Canada at the time of the October 1988 crime.

Both men were charged for the murders but Barnaby was never convicted, even after three trials. Caplin never went to trial.

Witnesses said the men killed Ranstrom and Warner because they were lesbians.
