"A magnifying glass would have helped to find and read in the Minneapolis Star Tribune the score of last Saturday’s football game between the Division I Football Championship Series-bound UND and its National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics opponent, Montana Western.
When FCS teams play opponents of the same FCS or higher Bowl Championship Series level, the Star Tribune reports the details and scores in its “Area FCS” section. This section typically features scores of area FCS teams such as North Dakota State University, South Dakota State University, the University of South Dakota and UND.
But because Montana Western is an NAIA — not FCS — school, the UND-Montana Western score could be found only in fine print in the section reporting all scores nationwide.
So what, you say? So, that surely will be the destiny of all UND sports reporting should the Legislature fail to repeal its Fighting Sioux mandate and should those agitating the Big Sky Conference to ignore this issue continue to do so."
