Shakopee Tribe submits land-into-trust request for 124 acres

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community of Minnesota has submitted a land-into-trust application for 124 acres, The Shakopee Valley News reports.

The tribe submitted the application to the Bureau of Indian Affairs. It's part of a long-running dispute that goes back at least a decade.

The original request was for around 750 acres. Litigation and administrative appeals led to a settlement between the tribe, the BIA and the city of Shakopee.

The city says it hasn't received a copy of the application.
