Bitter rivals compete in Choctaw World Series of Stickball

The Choctaw World Series of Stickball took place on the reservation of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians in July.

Over nine days, 45 teams competed in tolih games. The final matchup boiled down to Beaver Dam, going for its fourth straight championship, and bitter rival Conehatta.

"It's a good thing they hold it once a year," Allen Meely, who works for the tribe's fire department, told The Los Angeles Times. "If they played it year-round, the hospital might be full."

The Times said 5,000 people watched the two teams battle it out on the field. Conehatta defeated Beaver Dam 5-0.
