Montana-Wyoming Tribal Leaders Council statement on Elouise Cobell
The following is a statement from Jay St. Goddard, the chairman of the Montana-Wyoming Tribal Leaders Council. The council voted on October 18 to support a Congressional Gold Medal for Elouise Cobell.
Elouise was a true hero and dedicated her life to bringing justice to American Indian people. Elouise never gave up and always fought the good fight. She will be remembered as a true warrior; and one with humility and compassion, she was able to persevere despite countless setbacks and obstacles. American Indian people everywhere will always remember her legacy. Her work will never be forgotten.
