EPA approves Dry Creek Rancheria for treatment as state

The Environmental Protection Agency announced approval of treatment as state status for the Dry Creek Rancheria of California.

The designation under the Clean Water Act allows the tribe to set and enforce water quality standards. The reservation is home to nearly two miles of creeks and seasonal wetlands, the EPA said.

“The EPA is pleased that Dry Creek Rancheria will assume the role of implementing key environmental regulations, and we encourage other tribes to do the same,” said Jared Blumenfeld, EPA’s Regional Administrator for the Pacific Southwest. “Collaborating with the tribes, we can protect and restore precious water resources on their lands throughout the Pacific Southwest.”

The Dry Creek Rancheria is the 47th tribe to receive treatment as state status under the Clean Water Act.
