Chippewa Nation of the Great Lakes submits recognition bid

The Chippewa Nation of the Great Lakes is looking to gain federal recognition.

The group submitted a letter of intent with the Bureau of Indian Affairs on August 11. "We are in the process of setting up our Tribal government, our Constitution, and working with our membership," the Facebook page states.

The group is based in Michigan but claims territory in Ohio and Indiana.
