No case against political figure for abuse of Alaska Native girl

Prosecutors in Alaska have closed a sexual abuse case against Bill Allen, the former head of a politically connected company.

Paula Roberds, who is from a Yup'ik village, said Allen, the former CEO of Veco, began paying her for sex when she was 15 years old. She said the arrangement continued even after she moved to Washington state.

The state began building a case against Allen but it was put on hold when the Department of Justice prosecuted Allen in a corruption case. The Obama administration declined to pursue charges for sex abuse and refused to provide evidence and other information when the state tried to restart the case.

Allen, 74, is being released from federal prison today.
