Native man punished for gang-related shootings in Manitoba

A Native gang member was sentenced to 12 years in prison for two shootings in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The 21-year-old man, who reportedly belonged to the Indian Posse gang, pleaded guilty to two counts of discharging a firearm for two shootings in May 2010. In one incident, a 10-year-old girl was seriously injured when a bullet entered her home.

The man, who was 19 at the time, used the shootings as retaliation against the Manitoba Warriors, another Native gang.
