Navajo Nation Council considers legislation to raise sales tax

The Navajo Nation Council is considering a bill to raise the sales tax on the reservation.

The current sales tax rate is 4 percent. Delegate Dwight Witherspoon wants to raise it to 5 percent.

The sales tax brought in $24 million in fiscal year 2011, the Associated Press reported.
