Column: Seminole Tribe takes on disputed mobile home park

"The Seminole Tribe has retaken control of a disputed mobile home park on its Hollywood reservation, but this time the tribe did it through peaceful negotiations, not armed muscle.

The Seminoles are back in charge at the Hollywood Mobile Estates/Seminole Estates community just south of their two casinos on State Road 7. It's unclear what the management change means for the future of the 138-acre park or its 2,000 non-tribal residents, but a tribal spokesman said the tribe intends to keep operating the trailer park.

The transition took place earlier this week, after the former management company agreed to a buyout of its longterm lease, which ran through 2024. Dan Adkins, an executive with Hartman & Tyner, the firm that co-managed the property since 1986, said he couldn't give details of the buyout because of a confidentiality clause."
