Saginaw Chippewa Tribe prepares to open big water park

The Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan is set to welcome the first visitors to the Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel.

The 45,000-square-foot water park and a 244-room hotel will have a soft opening next Monday, The Mt. Pleasant Morning Sun reports. The tribe will host its members, invited guests, VIPs and other people until the official grand opening.

“We want to show the public that mid-Michigan is a destination place. It’s not just a place to stop, drop off the kids and run or roll into town for an evening of entertainment and leave,” spokesperson Frank Cloutier told the paper. “This is an actual destination place that has many attractive attributes to it.”

The water park is the largest in the state.
