Navajo Nation reports increase in tourism industry spending

Tourists are spending more on their visits to the Navajo Nation, according to a new study.

The Navajo Nation Tourism Department said about 600,000 people visited the reservation in 2011. Their total spending was $113 million, an increase in 32 percent from 2002, when the last study was done.

The average age of a visitor to the Navajo Nation is 52 years old, according to the department's survey.
