Crow Reservation man sentenced for trafficking eagle parts
A young member of the Crow Tribe of Montana was sentenced to time served and probation and was ordered to pay $98,500 in restitution for trafficking in eagle parts.
William Esley Hugs Jr., 23, pleaded guilty to five charges of conspiring to traffic eagles and hawks. He admitted he sold eagle and hawk parts to a government informant.
Hugs's father and his uncle were also charged in connection with the scheme, as were three other members of the Crow Tribe.
