US Attorney looks at 39 deaths in response to Oglala Sioux Tribe

The U.S. Attorney in South Dakota has agreed to look at 39 death cases in response to requests from the Oglala Sioux Tribe.

Tribal leaders believe the cases weren't fully investigated .They include the deaths of people on and near the Pine Ridge Reservation.

"We'll go through those cases," US Attorney Brendan Johnson told the Associated Press. "If there are cases we can prosecute, we certainly will. Even if the case is 30 years old, if we get the information necessary, we will prosecute."

The FBI has said it won't reopen any of the cases without new information.
