New business in New Mexico is offering Pueblo artifacts for sale

A new business in Farmington, New Mexico, is selling Pueblo artifacts but one of the owners says they were all legally obtained.

According to The Farmington Daily Times, the "Ancient Journeys" store is selling a "scoop" from Cochiti Pueblo for $250. The item dates to around 1900.

An Anasazi bowl that dates to 1300 AD is going for $300. Teresa Lampros, who owns the store with her husband, Noel Pacheco, says the items weren't taken from federal or Indian land.

"They were collected in the '20s and '30s from privately owned land. They all come with certifications that they were legally acquired," Lampros told the paper.

Once the Pueblo artifacts are sold, Lampros said the store won't be offering any more archaeological items.
