A fourth woman is running for national chief of the
Assembly of First Nations.
Diane Kelly of the Onigaming First Nation in Ontario announced her campaign yesterday.
She joins three other women in seeking the job: Joan Jack of the Bear River First Nation in Manitoba, Ellen Gabriel of the Kanesatake Mohawk First Nation in Quebec, and Pam Palmater of the Eel River Bar First Nation in New Brunswick.
Shawn Atleo of the Ahousaht First Nation in British Columbia currently serves as AFN chief. He is
seeking re-election.
Also in the running are: Terry Nelson of the Roseau River First Nation in Manitoba, Bill Erasmus of the Dene Nation in the Northwest Territories and George Stanley of the Frog Lake First Nation.in Alberta.
The election takes place July 18.
