San Carlos Apache Tribe moves forward with radio station plans

The San Carlos Apache Tribe of Arizona is still working on establishing its own radio station.

The tribe received Federal Communications Commission approval in 2009 to operate KYAY at 91.1 on the FM dial, The Apache Moccasin reported. The permit expires in August 2012 but the tribe recently received approval for a modification of its construction permit, the paper said.

The tribe solicited bids to build a new broadcasting antenna tower, the paper reported.
