Toddler who died on Spirit Lake Dakotah Nation being laid to rest

A two-month-old member of the Spirit Lake Dakotah Nation in North Dakota will be laid to rest tomorrow.

Debra Kay Anderson Dogskin was born on April, 24. She died in her family's home on July 7 but the cause of death hasn't been determined.

The girl was enrolled at Spirit Lake but her mother, Rainey Anderson, is a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, her aunt said. Patricia Anderson said she raised concerns about conditions at the home but was rebuffed by the Spirit Lake Dakotah Nation and authorities in Benson County.

Melody Christianson, another aunt, also was concerned. She said Rainey Anderson was addicted to drugs.
