Romney's VP contender accepted donations from Jack Abramoff

Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) accepted $4,000 from tribes represented by convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff when he served in the House, The Washington Post.

Portman was among dozens of Republicans who accepted donations from Team Abramoff but the Post did not say whether he returned the money after the scandal broke in early 2004. An aide said Portman doesn't remember meeting the lobbyist.

Portman is said to be under consideration as the running mate to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
