Sentencing delayed for man over murder of Indian toddler

Sentencing has been delayed for a man who pleaded guilty for murdering a three-year-old Indian boy in Oklahoma.

Jason Cline, 28, admitted that he caused the death of Cody Paul Chama by "willful or malicious use of reasonable force." He abused the boy, who died on October 6, 2010.

Cline, who was the boyfriend of Cody's mother, was due to be sentenced today. But his attorneys asked for a pre-sentencing hearing instead, putting off the sentencing to October 24.

"[S]o he will be sentenced on oct. 24th," Cody's father, Paul Chama, said on Facebook today after the hearing.

Cody was part Ponca, Kewa Pueblo and Omaha. His grandmother lives at Kewa Pueblo in New Mexico.
