Navajo Nation leaders endorse both candidates for US Senate

Both the Republican and Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate seat in New Mexico are touting endorsements from leaders of the Navajo Nation.

Republican Heather Wilson posted a letter of support from Navajo Council Speaker Johnny Naize. He cited Wilson's support for the coal industry, which provides jobs and revenue to the tribe.

Democrat Martin Heinrich, who has sponsored several pro-tribal bills during his time in the U.S. House, is also claiming Navajo support. His press release cited a resolution that was introduced by Council Delegate Russell Begaye.

Polls show Heinrich ahead of Wilson as the election approaches.
