Copper mine opposed by Arizona tribes still in review phase

A copper mine opposed by tribes in Arizona is still being reviewed by the U.S. Forest Service.

Rosemont Copper mine won an air quality permit from the state last week. But USFS still needs to consult with tribes and examine the environmental impacts, a process that could be complete by the end of March, The Arizona Daily Star reported.

The mine would be located on federal land near Apache Leap, a sacred site to the San Carlos Apache Tribe.
