Bill to avert government shutdown sent to President Obama

An appropriations bill that averts a shutdown of the federal government was sent to President Barack Obama for his signature.

H.R.933, the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, doesn't reverse the sequester that has already taken a hit on Indian Country programs. Those cuts remain in place until the end of the current fiscal year, or September 30.

The bill includes $3.9 billion for the Indian Health Service. It sets Indian health facility construction funding at $441.6 million.

For the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the bill provides $105.9 million for construction.
