Pawnee Nation reports uses for $4.4M trust fund settlement

The Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma has provided an update on how it is spending a $4.42 million trust fund settlement.

The tribe already distributed $2 million in per capita payments to 3,247 members. Another $400,000 went to the Native American Rights Fund, which represented the tribe.

An additional $1.16 million has gone to various tribal programs and projects, bringing the total expenditures to around $3.56 million. A committee is considering requests on ways to use the remainder.

The tribe provided the update in response to a request from the Office of Inspector General at the Interior Department. The tribe said "disgruntled" members made a "false report" to the OIG.
