Sen. Heitkamp looking to improve tribal housing conditions

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-North Dakota) visited the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation on Wednesday and vowed to improve Indian housing conditions.

Heitkamp saw overcrowded and aging homes on her visit to the reservation. “People cannot live like this,” she said, The Dickinson Press reported.

Heitkamp, a new member of Congress, sits on the Senate Indian Affairs Committee and the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Development Committee. She said her positions can help her address Indian housing.
