President Obama to nominate new Transportation Secretary

President Barack Obama will nominate Anthony R. Foxx, the mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina, as the next Secretary of the Department of Transportation, according to news reports.

DOT plays a role in the Tribal Transportation Program, previously known as Indian Reservation Roads. The department works with the Bureau of Indian Affairs to fund road, bridge and other transportation projects in Indian Country and in Alaska Native villages.

Foxx, if confirmed by the Senate, will succeed Ray LaHood.
