Judge promises ruling in Nooksack Tribe disenrollment suit

A judge for the Nooksack Tribe of Washington promised a ruling within a week in a disenrollment lawsuit.

The tribe plans to remove 306 people, including two sitting council members, from the rolls. A resolution claims they can't trace their ancestry to a 1942 census or to someone who received an allotment.

"It has to be political," Ricky Belmont, whose mother is among those being disenrolled, told The Bellingham Herald.
