Makah Nation welcomes Superfund listing for polluted site

A polluted site on the Makah Nation in Washington could be added to the national Superfund list.

The Warmhouse Beach dump was used as a dump site by the U.S. Air Force and by tribal members. The tribe asked the Environmental Protection Agency to place it on the Superfund list.

"The Makah Tribe welcomes EPA’s efforts to assist in the tribe’s longstanding effort to clean up the Warmhouse Beach dump, our highest environmental priority,” Chairman Timothy J. Greene said in a press release. “We look forward to working collaboratively with EPA to finally addressing the serious environmental and health risks that the dump poses to our treaty resources and culturally significant areas.”
