Tribes a part of meeting to discuss future of Colorado River

Tribes are taking part in a meeting to discuss the future of the Colorado River.

In 1922, seven states signed the Colorado River Compact. However, tribes were left out of the agreement.

The compact, however, recognizes that tribes in Arizona, California, Colorado and Utah retain water rights. The Ten Tribes Partnership represents the tribes with interests in matters affecting the river.

The meeting, hosted by the Bureau of Reclamation, is taking place in California.
